The MRTF consists of 4 separate parcels comprising approximately 1,900 ha around Maputo Bay. This site was selected because of its proximity to stakeholder facilities, including the UEM Marine Research Field Station (Inhaca Island). The mangroves in Maputo Bay are representative of the many areas in the region that are threatened by anthropogenic activities. The MRTF is being developed through an agreement between the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment (DNTF) and Universidade de Eduardo Mondlane .
